Your Scallywag Captains for 2019-2020

Updated: Nov 20, 2019

Meet the Captains

The captains for the 2019-2020 Scallywags season are Cody Coates and Richy Miller. At six foot four inches, Cody Coates is the big man that every team needs. When the disc goes up he will put everything on the line to ensure that his team comes out on top. On the field the man brings an unmatched intensity. Cody’s fire is complemented by Richy’s ice. As a veteran O-line handler, Richy is always calm and in control. With or without the disc he is always there for his teammates. Whether it is getting open in the dump space, or cutting to power position for a saucy huck. Both captains envision using this year to take the club to a new level.

Cody Coates

Cody is in his fourth year of playing college ultimate, all of them have being on Scallywags, and his second year as a captain of Scallywags. After our previous captain Clay Hewitt graduated in 2018, Cody saw a role that needed to be filled. Cody saw this as a time to step up. As a Wags captain Cody brings his passion for the game and a loud voice of guidance on and off the field. In his final year Cody wants to leave the team with the best season it has ever had. His only goal for the season is to make it to nationals.

Richy Miller

Richy is also in his fourth year playing ultimate frisbee, third year on Scallywags, and this is his first year as a captain. He began his second year as a Scourge player but quickly moved to Scallywags. A decision he never second guessed. In fact, becoming a captain was a goal he set for himself as soon as he joined the team. Richy is using his new position to take Scallywags to a new level. He brought a team first mentality to his new position. Whether it’s taking time to help rookies understand the game or pushing his teammates during a track workout, he will be there.
