So you want to get ultimate gear for Christmas?!

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

So your son or daughter just got into this weird sport we call ultimate and now you have no idea what to get them for the holidays. We've complied a list of amazing gifts that you can get that isn't a just Wham-O you saw at Walmart.

Discs! ($7-$12)

Ultimate players could always use more discs, but we only like to play with a certain kind of flat plastic. You wanna look for a white 175g Discraft Ultrastar. You can find them online at a ton of places, the top art design doesn't matter too much but we suggest you get something that is only in the center of the disc. The full top art ones while they looks cool don't feel quite the same as a center art print.

Five Ultimate Hydro Shorts ($28-$45)

The comfiest, stretchiest ultimate shorts on the market. Great for sleeping in or those pterodactyl points during the showcase game. Get them in classic black or other crazy designs. Make sure you get the Hydro shorts and not the Triton shorts.

Patagonia Black Hole Duffel Bag ($120-$150)

If you are looking for maximum space with a sleek design, look no further than the Patagonia Black Hole Duffel Bag. This bag has a large main compartment, one side pocket (big enough for cleats), and two mesh pockets in the lid. The Black Hole’s straightforward design is met with high-quality materials for a bag that will last you years of travel. The 45L and 60L are also great carry ons for flights.

Foldable Stool/Chair ($20-$30)

Sometimes it’s a long walk from the car to the fields and dragging a camp chair is untenable. Easily clipped to a backpack or slipped inside a larger duffel, these lightweight stools will give you respite from all that standing. Most importantly, it’s an easy solve for a place to sit while you take your cleats on and off.

3 in 1 Cooler, Stool, Backpack:

Muscle Rollers ($30-$70)

A good roller is an express ticket to sideline popularity. Aside from getting you into the cool kids club, they have plenty of uses to prepare your body for action and assist in recovery and dealing with injuries. Every team needs a least one; having a variety is also good. Get that sweet sweet myofascial release.

Books ($12-$20)

Food for the ultimate mind, many players enjoy a good read, especially when it is about their passion. Learn from some of the greatest minds in Ultimate, brush up on your history or culture, or just up your game.

Ultimate Techniques & Tactics:

Ultimate Glory: Frisbee, Obsession, and My Wild Youth:

Shoe Clip ($15)

Ultimate players are known for foul-smelling shoes that house hardworking feet in all kinds of weather. To keep that odor from being locked up inside duffle bags, players tend to knot laces and throw shoes over the bag, leaving them swinging into legs. Shoe Clip allows players to fasten footwear together and clip them to the bag. With a convenient place for shoes, bags aren’t as smelly, full, or dirty. That’s a gift for everyone!

Charcoal Shoe Deodorizer ($15)

The holidays are a perfect time to send a subtle message that your team smells awful. These Jalousie Bamboo Charcoal bags will have cleats freshened up in no time. At $15 for a pack of 12, they’re cheap enough to gift the whole team this winter. Maybe grab a pack instead of that decorative Yankee Candle. If you’d like to be the savior of the season, slip these into your teammates’ cleats during your next tournament. The mystery will enchant the motel continental breakfast the next day.

Sun Hat ($15)

Whether you’re watching or playing Ultimate, everyone needs the perfect sun hat. Staying out of the sun is important to the success of a long tournament. This hat doesn’t replace sunscreen but it does give an extra layer of protection for your face and neck. With an adjustable drawstring on the crown and neck, this hat fits most sizes and stays on your noggin.

Battery Powerbank ($20-80)

In the age of Twitter, Snapchat, and relying on smartphones for just about everything in those special middle-of-nowhere field sites we find for tournaments, every ultimate player needs some extra juice.
