Player Spotlights - February 2020

Crue Savage - Scallywag

Crue Savage is an interesting ultimate frisbee player, as many frisbee players are. Crue only has one whole year of competitive ultimate under his belt, however through playing as much ultimate as he could, he quickly found himself a starting place on the Scallywags O-line. He is a jack of all traits. This is true on and off the field. He has helped many SoFlo Ultimate

players fix many things, from bicycles to the Scourge MVP trophy. Many ultimate players contribute one aspect of their game to another sport. However, in high school Crue was a competitive clay pigeon shooter as well as rock climber. Being a jack of all traits also translates to his ultimate game. Crue can play all aspects of the game with consistency and determination whether it be handling, cutting, offense or defense.

Luis Perez - Scourge

Luis Perez is a true rookie, that being said he is a strong ultimate player. He has a height advantage as well as a strong drive to be a good ultimate player. He does not even have an entire semester under his belt, however his teammates elected him to be the player of the game. The strongest part of his game is his strength in forcing turnovers. He attributes this to his history playing lacrosse. Lacrosse taught him defensive positioning and how to watch passing lanes. This season he intends to sharpen his throwing skills so that he can be a threat on both sides of the field.
